As we are now back from the Christmas period and into 2023, workloads and life stresses may return. Monday the 16th of January, also known as ‘Blue Monday’ creates the perfect opportunity to reflect on our mental health and check in on those around us.
The events industry is currently thriving, with Covid restrictions lifted, people are more excited than ever to host a conference, dinner or drinks reception. Increased demand means a higher workload for those within the industry and with more deadlines and longer to-do lists, it is vital to check in on your mental health. On average, poor mental health affects 1 in 6 people in the workplace, however in the events industry, this ratio is 1 in 3. With many roles involving high-pressure situations and extreme working hours, it is so important to prioritise your mental health.
We have listed our top 3 tips for keeping on top of your wellness…
1) Taking a walk
Despite its simplicity, taking a walk can improve wellbeing immensely. Stepping away from your desk and breathing in some fresh air helps to clear your mind and lower stress levels. With a busy schedule, removing yourself from work can seem impossible, however, it is very important and can help to provide a sense of clarity.
2) Eating well
The brain accounts for 20% of your daily energy requirements, so consuming nutritious food that you enjoy eating can hugely benefit your mental wellbeing. A poor diet can result in fatigue and the inability to produce a high level of work.
3) Change of scenery
Whether you are working from home or in the office, a change of scenery can be positive for your mental health. Getting out of your day-to-day routine adds variation and can help to refresh your mind and rejuvenate your workflow.
