Colour Trends 2024 Zesty pastels to earthy peaceful tones

Colours have the ability to set the tone and mood of any occasion. As we look towards spring, it is the perfect time to look at trends for the year ahead and inject some much needed feel good colour after the winter months.

Pantone, the colour authority, has recently announced their colour of the year named ‘Peach Fuzz’, the delicate pastel peach hue mixes pink and orange and could serve as warm alternative to beige or cream. Reminiscent of a new day’s first light, ‘Peach Fuzz’ represents mindfulness, compassion, comfort and connection. The choice of colour marks a contrast to previous years bold and striking statements, the peach option illustrates that understated can still mean impactful.

“In a world that can seem very harsh, people are looking for colours that soothe, colours that are soft and warm, colours that nurture and provide us with comfort,” says Leatrice Eiseman, the director of the Pantone Colour Institute. The colour embodies a desire to nurture and comfort yourself and others, a sense of serenity and calm which hopefully will set the tone for the year ahead.

Trend researcher WGSN and Coloro annually forecasts the colour trends for the upcoming year, we have picked out a few that have inspired us below.

The spring and summer seasons usher in warm sunshine, vibrant and colourful botanicals. Natural colours are a defining trend for the year. Warm pastels evoke a sense of calm and tranquillity, and vibrant tones bring a positive new energy. Zesty yellows, limes and oranges ignite a feeling of creativity and imagination. These strong shades confirm the importance of stimulating and emotionally engaging colours. The ombré tablescape we curated for Bucherer tapped into these colour trends by using baby pinks, pastel greens accompanied by deeper purple blues.

Fondant Pink: light and youthful appeal, sweet shade of candyfloss pink has a comforting and relaxing appeal.

Cyber Lime: punchy and bright neon, bursting with a renewed energy with a sporty and fresh feel.

Radiant Red: sweet and playful cherry red, perfect for summer this emotionally engaging colour and evokes a feeling and bold affection and confidence.

Fruity Orange: a bright and vibrant summer hue, full of energy and zest for life, the perfect colour for summer.

The Autumn and Winter aesthetic traditionally calls for darker and cooler tones. 2024 reflects need grounding and stability. The colder months bring with them a mixture of grounding timeless tones and colours that connect to nature and well-being.

Intense Rust: warm and rich shade which merges the raw and earthy feel of brown with an elevated, luxury edge. This colour is directly connected to nature which feels grounding, calming and authentic.

Midnight plum: an intense and dramatic dark shade of purple that feels almost other wordily, this colour alludes to escapism, has gothic undertones and celebrates darkness.

Matcha Green: this cool shade of pastel green evokes a sense of calm which leans into nature and feels fresh even in the cooler months.

Calming blue has a sense of serene energy, again directly linked to nature and the sea creating a relaxing atmosphere.
